Horn carving was introduced in the Viceroyalty in Mexico and has been perfected over time by the Mayans. Today it is a globally recognized technique, typical of Yucatán, that uses only recovered material. The pedal loom is a weaving technique for working in large formats, introduced in Mexico after the Spanish conquest and originating in Egypt. The Mayans developed textiles since pre-Hispanic times and with the introduction of this tool, today artisans weave with natural fibers typical of the Yucatán peninsula such as henequen.
